Throughout its history, Ganaflor has always being committed to the protection of the environment, and has always made one of its priorities to produce high quality crops and fruits with the minimum impact on its surroundings.
This strong commitment reflects very well on the following specific actions:
Use of land: out of the 1000 hectares (2470 acres) comprising the farm, 220 hectares (543 acres) are fully devoted to the conservation of the primary and secondary forest they shelter, and they are certified by Costa Rican Ministry of Environment and Energy as a protected area.
- We manufacture our own wooden pallets: 150 hectares of our land (371 acres) is dedicated to wood plantations. Thus, instead of buying pallets manufactured with wood of uncertain origin that may just as well come from protected areas, in Ganaflor we produce our own pallets by using our own wood. For every tree we fell, we plant another one, thus making this a sustainable process.
- We do not contaminate: all the waste generated by our production process is properly disposed of.
- We protect water sources and do not fumigate in the surrounding areas. As a guarantee, we hire independent third party auditors, at least twice a year, to substantiate this.
- We use minimum levels of chemicals.
